Caution when attaching a towbarless tug to Learjet 40 series aircraft
Effectivity: Learjet 40/45/70/75 aircraft
ATA Code: 09 - Towing And Taxiing
By Scott Simpson – Technical Services During normal day-to-day operations, towing aircraft is a very common practice and there are a wide variety of towing options.
The AMM does provide instructions for using a tow bar; however, towbarless towing is often preferred due to available equipment and ease of use.
When operating a towbarless tug with Learjet 40 series aircraft, exercise caution to prevent damage to the Nose Landing Gear (NLG) squat switch rod, especially when using a winch strap to secure the aircraft to the tug. It is strongly recommended that anyone towing an aircraft should familiarize themselves with the aircraft and towing equipment prior to towing.
