The Mach Transducer (MT) installed on Bombardier Global Express and Global 5000 aircraft is becoming obsolete and is no longer in production or repairable when a unit fails.

As a long-term solution, Bombardier has introduced the Thales Integrated Electronic Standby Instrument (IESI) as a replacement for aircraft Serial Numbers 9002 through 9157 equipped with the 2014AD Mach Transducer configuration.

At the end of June 2026, Bombardier released the following two Service Bulletins (SBs), which provide instructions for replacing the existing Mach Transducer and associated attaching hardware with the Thales IESI:

1. SB 700-34-068 – Global Express

Modification – Standby Airspeed/Altimeter System – Installation of Integrated Electronic Standby Instrument (IESI) and Removal of Mach Transducer

Effectivity:
BD-700-1A10 aircraft, Serial Numbers 9002 to 9126, 9128, 9129, 9131, 9132, 9133, 9134, 9135, 9136, 9137, 9138, 9139, 9141, 9142, 9143, 9144, 9145, 9146, 9147, 9148, 9150, 9151 and 9153.

2. SB 700-1A11-34-042 – Global 5000

Modification – Standby Airspeed/Altimeter System – Installation of Integrated Electronic Standby Instrument (IESI) and Removal of Mach Transducer

Effectivity:
BD-700-1A11 aircraft, Serial Numbers 9127, 9130, 9140, 9149, 9152, 9154, 9155, 9156 and 9157.

Benefits of the IESI Installation

The new IESI configuration provides an enhanced and modernized standby instrumentation solution by replacing the previous mechanical airspeed/altimeter and attitude indicators.

In addition to addressing the obsolescence of the Mach Transducer, the IESI configuration improves long-term supportability for the legacy fleet and aligns the aircraft configuration equivalent to aircraft Serial Number 9159 and subsequent.

AFM Update

The Airplane Flight Manual (AFM), Chapter 06-01, has been updated to include the applicable calibration/airspeed and altitude position error corrections for the IESI on the aircraft incorporating these SBs.

The applicable AFM revisions are:

  • Global Express: Airplane Flight Manual CSP 700-1A, Revision 123 or later approved revision, as applicable

  • Global 5000: Airplane Flight Manual CSP 700-5000, Revision 84 or later approved revision, as applicable

Important – Return of Removed Mach Transducer

Operators are also reminded that the removed Mach Transducer, P/N GH582-3004-1 (2014AD), must be returned to Bombardier following accomplishment of the applicable Service Bulletin.

To avoid any future AOG situation upon Mach Transducer failure, we encourage operators with affected aircraft to consider these Service Bulletins, which will improve long-term support of the standby instrumentation system on the Global legacy fleet.
