To ensure continued In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) performance, cybersecurity compliance, and network accessibility, operators should verify that their ViaSat Ka-Band system software is updated to the latest approved standards.

Recent software releases include significant enhancements to system functionality, satellite network compatibility, and security protections. Operating with outdated software is one of the most common causes of Ka-Band connectivity issues.

ViaSat has released the following recommended software versions:

  • Version 5.0.1.1 - ViaSat VSB 1461872 Revision 004

  • Version 6.0.0.42 - ViaSat VSB 1476503 Revision 002

These software version updates provide:

  • Improved system stability and overall performance

  • Expanded satellite network compatibility

  • Enhanced cybersecurity protections

  • Increased operational reliability and connectivity availability

Operators should be aware that ViaSat Service Bulletin (VSB) 1461872 Revision 004 introduces mandatory security enhancements. Aircraft that have not incorporated this update may lose network authentication and access capability, potentially resulting in degraded or unavailable IFC service. Compliance was required prior to July 27, 2025.

Aircraft currently operating any of the following software versions may upgrade directly to Version 5.0.1.1 without requiring intermediate software installations:

  • Version 4.0.2.1, Version 4.0.4.0 and Version 4.6.0.17

Also, ViaSat Service Bulletin 1476503 Revision 002 introduces new software Version 6.0.0.42.

Aircraft operating Version 5.0.1.1 with the required Key Bundles installed may upgrade directly to Version 6.0.0.42 without additional intermediate upgrades.

Some software upgrades may require coordination with ViaSat Business Aviation Support for software staging, activation, licensing, or local loading activities. Operators are encouraged to schedule update events during planned maintenance opportunities to minimize aircraft downtime and ensure successful implementation.
