L14F74 alcohol tank float switch improvement

Effectivity: Learjet 60/60XR aircraft

ATA Code: 30 - Ice And Rain Protection

By Bill Wiles – Technical Services

Bombardier would like to inform Learjet 60/60XR operators that improvements have been made to the float materials used for the P/N: L14F74 alcohol tank float switch assembly.

The previous material, which has proven reliable over the years, was deemed not reliable with the most recent batch. When the float material was submerged in methyl alcohol, the float materials could degrade and absorb the alcohol, causing them to sink and illuminate the amber ALC LOW message on the Crew Warning Panel (CWP).

In conjunction with the supplier, a new material has been identified and approved to manufacture the floats used in the assembly. The part number does not change, and L14F74 float switches with new float material can be ordered via the standard parts ordering process.
