The Article below provides details about a new trend observed in service of PFCC removals leading to AOGs.

These reports can be summarized in the following categories:

  1. PFCC degraded messages

  2. PFCC failures

  3. PFCC Dead on Arrival (DOA)

1. PFCC degraded messages

The Fly-by-Wire System (PFCC) gather and use data coming from other systems like Radio Altimeter, Slat Flap Electronic Control Unit (SFECU), FMS, IASC, ISI, EEC, ADSP, etc.

Any data missing, miscompare or faults from those systems will be reported by the PFCCs.

In case of PFCC degraded messages, it is to be anticipated that the PFCC is most likely not to be at fault.

In this scenario, to avoid any unnecessary PFCC removals, please make sure to follow the Smart Fix Plus[MN1.1] (SFP) task associated with the faults reported by the OMS.

2. PFCC failures:

In cases of PFCC failure messages, it is important to follow the Smart Fix Plus (SFP) tasks to identify the defective PFCC and avoid unnecessary removals.

3. PFCC Dead on Arrival (DOA) on the Global 7500

Cases of PFCCs failing after installation have been reported to Bombardier.

In several cases, the vendor evaluation revealed that the wrong PFCC software was loaded in those units (Global 7500 vs. Global 8000), meaning the PFCC software load was either not performed or failed at installation.

Please refer to the Full Throttle Blog Article below for details and PFCC software upload.
