Aviation safety is a year-round priority

This November, aviation professionals from around the world land in Wichita, Kansas for the aviation safety event of the year: Bombardier’s Safety Standdown.

Safety Standdown has been the industry’s premier safety awareness event for more than for 29 years, delivering thought-provoking seminars, expert panel presentations and unparalleled opportunities to share industry best practices. Mark your calendars: This year’s event is taking place Nov. 11-13, 2025!

But, while Safety Standdown represents a key moment to come together in support of aviation safety, the truth is that safety is a year-round priority. In that spirit, we are sharing two recent articles authored by Safety Standdown Advisory Council members.

First up, we have Timothy Wade’s, “Why We’re Failing at Communication – And What it’s Costing Us.” As Flexjet’s Corporate Director of Environmental, Health & Safety – OneSky Flight, Wade believes we’re not suffering from a lack of communication; rather, we’re drowning in it! But somehow, people are still afraid to speak up when it matters most. Discover three elements that make communicating difficult – and consider why there is often silence at the most critical moments. Read the article here

Next, we have Bethan Williams’, “Redefining Safety in the Sky: A Call to Action for Corporate Aviation.” As Chief of Cabin Experience and Lead Flight Attendant for the Bombardier Demo Team, Williams knows safety is not a given. Rather, aviation safety demands constant vigilance, rigorous preparation and flawless execution. Read along as she reinforces the need for a strong safety culture in corporate aviation and calls for industry to recommit to prioritizing safety. Read the article here.
