Chafing of the main landing gear outboard door link rod
Effectivity: Learjet 40/45/70/75 aircraft
ATA Code: 32 - Landing Gear
By: Scott Simpson, Technical ServicesWhen the landing gear is retracted, a chafing condition can be present between the outboard main landing gear (MLG) door link rod (P/N 4532103030-007) and an adjacent wiring harness conduit in the upper wheel-well.
During regular periodic inspections, customers are asked to be aware of this possibility. If an operator identifies chafing on the outboard gear door link rod, the appropriate AMM procedures and standard shop practices should be performed to adjust the conduit and provide clearance from the link rod.
P/N 4532103030-009 is a replacement for all Learjet 40/45 aircraft modified by SB45-32-24 and SB40-32-06 (Replacement of the Outboard Door Link Push Rod Assembly), and subsequent aircraft equipped with the –007 link rod. Additionally, a manufacturing process change redesigned the -009 link rod with threaded ends, instead of the original magneforming process used for the -007 link rod. The –009 link rod has a reduced diameter of 0.625” (compared to 0.750” on the original -007), providing the added benefit of improved clearance.
