By Bill Wiles – Technical Services The Learjet 70/75 Runway Performance Improvement initiative focused on developing runway performance credit for operations on wet or contaminated runways when the surface is grooved.
By analyzing these conditions, the program was able to create new Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) supplements that more accurately reflect real-world takeoff performance in specific operating situations. These enhancements are intended to help flight crews better assess performance margins and make informed decisions when operating in challenging runway and weather environments.
The improvements are expected to be variable, depending on individual runway characteristics, with the most significant benefits realized on wet runways of approximately 5,000 feet in length. In these scenarios, operators may gain meaningful performance margins that could open opportunities to safely fly into and out of more airports during adverse weather conditions.
To support this effort, an AFM supplemental data package is available on the Bombardier Customer Portal.
